Though Main Hoon Na has been criticised by the critics, it has gone on to become a top grosser not only in India, but also in the US, shattering records just like Shah Rukh Khan shattered Sunil Shetty ‘s plans in the film.
Trade reports say that the opening of Main Hoon Na was nothing but monstrous. The existing first week highest record was for Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham which was around 12.50 crore. Farah Khan ‘ directorial debut surpassed it by more than a crore and with far fewer prints.
And surprisingly Main Hoon Na has done well even in East Punjab which has never been known to be SRK’s strong territory as action films rule in the circuit while SRK usually acts in love stories.
But Main Hoon Na with a good dose of action and stunts, (so what if one of those action sequences has SRK successfully chasing a Scorpio on a cycle rickshaw?), has appealed as much to the people in the Northern state as to those in the Eastern, Southern and Western states.
Main Hoon Na has also shattered many circuit records, which include Mumbai, Delhi-UP, Rajasthan and South. The film maintained an approximately 90% collections for the whole week at an all India level and the distributors share for the first week in Delhi - UP was a whopping 2.50 cr and 70 lakhs in East Punjab and 25 lakhs in Bihar which are not so strong SRK territories.
