RAW agent arrested

KARACHI: Pakistani security authorities nabbed an agent of RAW (Research and Analysis Wing - Indian national intelligence agency) few days ago, who had disguised as an employee of the Indian Airlines at its Karachi office, well-placed sources have confined in The News.
On credible information, sensitive agencies along with police first conducted surveillance of his suspicious activities and on June 27 a team of them along with Artillery Maidan police raided the Indian Airline’s office, situated in the Shaheen Complex, and arrested Sikandar Inam, sources said.
A case FIR No 74/2004 has been registered in Artillery Maidan police station, while the arrested accused has been handed over to investigators of sensitive agencies.
During a joint interrogation session, Inam has disclosed that he came from India in 1980 and started living in Karachi illegally. He had acquired Pakistani National Identity Card and pa**port.
Afterwards, as a Pakistani citizen he joined the Indian Airline and was posted at its Karachi office, sources said.
The accused supplied maps and blueprints of the Gwadar Port and an under-construction airport in Gwadar to India recently, sources close to the investigators told The News. Sikandar Inam has confessed to the allegations levelled against him, sources added.
A concerned senior officer, on condition of anonymity, told The News that the RAW’s activities could be harmful to the ongoing high-level peace talks between Pakistan and India. Meanwhile, sensitive agencies have suggested that investigation should be started against the officials who were involved in issuing pa**port and NIC to Inam.
