Ajab Gul, who some years ago made his debut as director by presenting the blockbuster thriller 'Khoay ho tum kahan', is all set to present another suspense thriller.
No film has fared well at the box office in the last nearly two years but Ajab believes that with the right marketing and good product things can be turned round. His new film 'Kiyon tum say itna piyar hai' he claims has all the ingredients to become a super hit and end the impa**e in Lollywood.
Ajab flays the film a**ociations and says their office bearers are interested in just getting publicity and playing politics. "Look who is talking about saving the industry? These people have not invested any money into the industry and yet they are the leaders. They have nothing at stake. Would it not have been better if they instead of talking did something practical and invested in some film projects? They have their own vested interests and are not sincere with the industry. I have no interest in politics but these people are playing havoc in the industry," Ajab Gul said.
The whole film has been shot at original locations. Not a single scene has been filmed at studios. Two songs have been filmed in Mauritius. In Pakistan the movie has been shot at locations in Gilgit, Skardu, Quetta and Lahore. The film has been processed at Cinicolor Lab in Bangkok. Ajab is taking the film for special effects to London. "Philips Dexter at BBC's Sound Effects Department would work for 72 hours to give the special effects. The right impact of sound is very important.
DTS enhances the experience of enjoying a film," he said.
Ajab Gul is following the trend of having film's songs sung by top Indian singers but unlike other filmmakers like Jawed Sheikh he is going to give them credit in the film. Popular Bollywood playback singer Maya Ramdin of Mauritius has sung the title song. Iqbal Durrani and Abdul Ghani have written title song's lyrics. Other singers include Shraya Ghoshal, Sadhna Sargam Jee, Pamela Jain and Nehra Joshi. A newcomer of Lahore Shaiz Ali has sung three songs. Matyhoo Jee has written the lyrics.
Besides Veena playing the female lead and newcomer Babrak playing the male lead, a number of TV stars and other artistes are making their debut in Lollywood by acting in this film. These include Tahira Wasti, cla**ical dancer Nighat Chaudhry, Azra Aftab, Wadood Mirza, Rashid Naz, Fiza, Priya and Ameisha. "Nighat Chaudhry is doing a character role and not featuring as a dancer. She has given a marvelous performance. Arbaz has also shone. I am honoured to have Tahira Wasti, Nadeem Baig and Talat in the cast," Ajab said.
The film's release date has not been finalised yet. Ajab is also eyeing foreign markets and hopes to release the film in Canada, America, UK and Dubai. He intends to take the whole cast to the premieres he is planning in Toronto, London, New York and Dubai.
Even while 'Kyon tum say itna piyar hai' has still to hit the silver screens, Ajab has started work on his next film project, which he disclosed would be a spy film. He said he is leaving for South Africa next week on location hunt for this film. The film would also be shot in Spain, Italy and some East European countries.
