Useless were all the words
everyone told me

Until I learned this art
of listening to God

I learned how to ignore the whispers
Of temptation

I joined such a race
between the mind
and the soul.

I became daring
To bathe in the truth
of the world of destruction
I built around me

I stepped back,
took a moment of silence,
looked at what Allah has given me

And now I happily perform
in this stage of life
with such an ease

My hopes carry me

And I am just like
a little shadow in the crowd
I behold myself
even in this mystery we call pain

I don’t let anything frighten me
because I know it is this path of sorrow
that brings me to where joy is ~
