2. Make sure your language, topic and audiencematch each other, i.e. if you are writing about major scientific advancements,
do not spell it out as if you were talking to a retarded child, and vice versa
– make articles about celebs and new iPhones as easy digested as possible.
3. Look for various sources and make an assumptionthat every piece of information obtained is wrong until proved otherwise. Yes,
you will have to research the article you are writing, there is no other way to
do it. It is way too obvious when a writer relies only on his knowledge and,
mostly, his precious opinion. This is the article worth your personal blog at
most.
4. Outline your article before you start writing. The experience proves that writers are incapable of cutting parts out once they
fall in love with their own words. Alas, it often becomes obvious that the
article has too heavy a structure and is not easy for perception when the
biggest part of it is ready to go. To avoid it, assign numbers of paragraphs or
even word limits to every point you plan to make.
5. Once again – don’t feel sorry to editruthlessly. You will see yourself how the paper will improve once it jettisons
the balance. No matter how well-written these parts are - they have to be left
out.
6. Use appropriate language. You can pick up onthe journalistic style be simply reading newspapers. It is notable for its
inclination to cut out articles and prepositions and use a specific vocabulary.
It is mandatory to use and will turn your nicely written paper into an article.
Lastbut not least, do not criticize yourself too much. What seems awful to you
often turns out to be a great piece of writing. Believe in yourself!
