Nandita Das on Cannes jury

Aishwarya Rai, who served on the 2003 Cannes Film Festival jury alongside Hollywood diva Meg Ryan and French actress Karin Viard, among others, will soon have company from back home. No, the reference here isn’t to the walk that Mallika Sherawat will undertake up the Grand Lumiere red carpet when the event gets underway in May.
Nandita Das, a personality as distinct from Aishwarya and Mallika as the French Riviera is from the Mandovi riverfront, has been named a member of the feature films jury of the 58th Cannes Film Festival (May 11-22, 2005). She is only the second Indian actress to earn the opportunity to sit in judgment on the films in competition in the world’s premier film festival.

Aishwarya Rai sizzle at the Cannes International Film Festival 2005 for the fourth consecutive time.
This time she was at Cannes as brand ambassador for L'Oreal and Coke. And she was be accompanied by her fan "Lucky Ramu" - Pramod Chaudhary from Pune - chosen through a lucky draw from among 100 winners of the "Thanda Aish Cash" contest.
Bollywood diva attended the festival first time in 2002 - she went to attend the screening of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus Devdas.
In 2003, she served on the Cannes Film Festival jury alongside Hollywood diva Meg Ryan and French actress Karin Viard, among others.
And last year represented L'Oreal.
