I figured I would start a new thread. LO and I will be taking the train down from Denmark to Hamburg and stay for two nights.

I have traveled by train in Germany a little before but before I had my
daughter. I remember the trains being comfortable but I was sometimes
confused about when I could show the train person my ticket and when I
had to use the machine on the platform. Does that make sense? One time I
had to leave the train, put my ticket in the machine and hop back on
the train.

Also, I am not planning to bring the car seat since I am counting on
using busses and trains around Hamburg. I will be bringing a stroller,
Mountain buggy nano, and I wonder how stroller friendly the busses and
trains are.

Any tips on buying tickets for local transportation? Is there a machine on the platforms or do you buy on the bus and train?

Uhh, as far as I can see, you have quite a few interesting stories about train travel. I haven't had much of it, though I've paid a lot. For me, practically every trip was quiet and without anyone in the walls. The Important thing is to be careful and make a pretty good trip plan. I still love to walk around Germany with the tern, and I think it is a pleasure for every tourist. More recently, a colleague who is a student in Germany told me about https://www.oebbfahrplan.com/de /, which is a handy map. As far as I know, in Europe, you don't find that much.
