Popular singer Hadiqa Kiyani had telephonic marriage with Afghani businessman Syed Farid Sarwari, who was in London at the time. Her family and friends attended the marriage function held at her residence in the Askari Apartments, Clifton.
Syed Haider Moddudi performed the Nikha ceremony. Her father-in-law Syed Ahmed Shah Sarwari was present on the occasion.
Hadiqa has disclosed that it is her love marriage. She recently adopted a child, who was rescued from the debris of the earthquake of October 8. "I would keep my son as close to me as my husband," she said.
A family friend who attended the Nikha ceremony said that Hadiqa is God fearing and kind to orphans and needy.
Emanating an aura of self-confidence, Hadiqa Kiyani can definitely be rated as one of the most fancied modern Indo-Pak music scene's pop diva. She appeared on the music scene in a kids show 'Aangan Aangan, Taray' followed by 'Rang Barangi Duniya' during the 80s - an era when the music scene was ruled over by light classical music singers.
Hadiqa graduated from Kinnaird College. Although, she had no deep craving to pursue studies, her good marks in graduation pushed her to enroll for Masters in Psychology from Government College, Lahore. She thinks that education helps one groom and understand life in a rather better way.
Right in her stance, but whether or not psychology helped her in the music career is another question! "In a lot of ways! I can understand the feelings of my fans better. Specially, on stage it really helps me to manage the crowd as I can understand what they really want to listen to."
Hadiqa proudly attributes the tutelage of Sohail Rana and Faiz Ahmed Khan (whom she respectfully calls Baba Faiz), for brushing her vocal skills and taught her the basics of sur and sangeet. Also her enrollment in a music school groomed her talent that she has in abundance.
For Hadiqa music is everything. "Actually music is inside me, in my heart, in my soul, its everywhere in me. I am a fanatic about music. The heavenly mania of music prompted into me with greater force at quite an early age. I got enrolled in a music school and studied music as a subject. Afterwards, I received formal training from tutors like Sohail Rana and Faiz Ahmed Khan. Later on, I got chance in various programmes on TV and released couple of albums and since then there was no looking back. I have also represented Pakistan on International level by participating in BBC1 programme, "National Lottery Live" in England, BBC 2 and ITV," she said.
