I started playing acoustic last year (for no apparent reason). I play almost everyday and feel pretty comfortable with it now. That said, I didn’t like using a pick from the start and usually just play “thundering thumb” style now. That feels more natural to me, but obviously it makes for a more subdued sound. That has me thinking; what would an electric acoustic sound like? Would it be worth pursuing if I was to ever choose to play “in public”? Would it sound like my current guitar, only louder, or would there be other issues? Thanks!

I see it's been a while since this topic was discussed, but I just wanted to add something. Have you tried experimenting with different string gauges? Sometimes a small change like that can make a big difference in feel and sound. Also, if you're still struggling with the same issue, did you ever find a good fix for it? Would love to hear what worked for you!

If barre chords are giving you a hard time, try adjusting your thumb position on the back of the neck—it should sit comfortably, not gripping too hard. Also, building finger strength with simple exercises helps a lot. I struggled with these at first, but consistent practice made a huge difference. Checking out music lessons online can also provide clear demonstrations and useful tips to make barre chords easier to master.
