As I lay my head upon the pillow
And close my eyes to sleep
My mind wanders through
The grey universe
Seeking some simple words to keep
I saw a golden leaf falling to the ground
Spinning on toward its last
Suddenly the wind blew around
And carried this helpless leaf past
The ripples of a woodland stream
Onward through Oaks and elms
Over briars and brambles high
Beyond the thick of forest realms
To an open meadow lush and wide
Where happy children play for fun
Running gleefully to catch
Floating leaves
Glistening in the Autumn sun
