Highway of strangers scurry on by,
many gone in the blink of an eye.
Some with burdens too painful to bear,
the lucky ones, they have not a care.
Too busy to see life's masquerade,
hidden so well, the strangers parade.
They do not dare look, afraid to see,
life's reflection of reality.
Some will wander off the beaten path,
bring into our lives heartache and wrath.
All we wanted was someone to care,
to hold us close and always be there.
Some stop for a while, they take not give,
they take away our reason to live.
Few stay for a while, then move on,
sorrow left when they are gone.
Met many strangers throughout my life,
some brought smiles, some brought strife.
One day a stranger, came passing thru,
the day he left, he took my heart too.
I long for him to return to me,
awaiting here with sweet memories.
Highway of strangers scurry on by.
