The San Alfonso del Mar resort at Algarrobo - Chile is attracting a large number of tourists not just because its a great place to spend a vacation but also because it has a Guinness Book of Records certified "biggest in the world" Pool.
What did it take to built it ? Well it cost nearly £ 1billion and is estimated that it will cost £ 2million per annum just to maintain it. The pool water is maintained crystal clear so that you can view the bottom of the pool even at the deepest point in the pool. Its dimensions are just mind numbing and stands at 1,000 yards long and at its deepest end is 115 Ft deep and contains 66 Million gallons in water. A Olympic size pool is just 50 by 25 Yards.
This huge structure is so vast that even generally small tasks such as Filtering and circulating fresh Sea water into the pool is controlled by sophisticated computers. Water is drawn directly from the Ocean next to this Pool. Water is also kept at an optimal 26 Degree Centigrade.
