Wide eyed innocence, yesterday's dreams,
simplistic thoughts ride upon sun beams.
Where have they gone, quickly they flew,
away with white clouds out of the blue.
Fairytales danced, reflected upon panes,
like magic glistened, pretend, feigned.
Naivety of youth with far fetching scope,
never hint seen of future dashed hope.
Now more years behind then lay ahead,
no time left for dreams, regrets instead.
I vision the sunbeams and all I wanted,
before time flew, became so dauted.
Childhood giggles in garden now faded,
my broken heart left wounded, jaded.
Young and pure of heart we are born,
many leave this world, tired and worn.
