LARGELY IMPERVIOUS to whatever is happening all over the world, the film-makers of Lollywood are hardly trying new faces. While good films were few and far between during the Nineties, there is no doubt that due to the democratic governments, many new boys and girls were tried on the celluloid, some of whom made their mark, while others faded into oblivion. Top artistes like Shaan, Reema, Madeeha Shah, Nargis, Meera, Nirma, Resham, Babar Ali, Arbaz Khan, Noor,Khushbu, Ajab Gul, Nawaz Khan, Shafqat Cheema, Veena Malik, Zeba Bakhtiar, Adnan Sami Khan, Saleem Sheikh, Mo’ammar Rana, and many others came into the industry, which is a very healthy number compared to the Eighties, where only a handful of new artistes can be named. But, in the period after 2000, only a few youngsters of caliber have surfaced. In this context, you can name Shameel Khan, Zara Sheikh, etc. Recently, a new, young and charming girl, Ayesha Alvi has surfaced suddenly during the last year, and she is getting quite a few films due to her good look, and talent. Some months ago, Ahmed Butt was rumoured to have found such affinity with her that they could become a good pair for the future in Lollywood. Their film is named Gunahon kee Basti, but I am sure things are quite within control there. In fact, Ayesha is believed to be quite a nice and expressive actress, and things could only improve for her, if she continues this way. In fact, some reporter remarked that Ayesha has the spark to be as good an actress as Nadra once was, who was not only a ravishing beauty, but a fine actress during the Nineties. I think this is a very nice compliment for Ayesha Alvi.
