David Ortiz of the Boston Red Sox left Thursdays 8-0 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays in the ninth inning with back spasms after check swinging on a pitch by Rob Rasmussen.

The 38-year-old designated hitter hit four home runs in four games against the Blue Jays in the series including his record breaking 37th career home run at the Rogers Centre. The native of the Dominican Republic leads the Red Sox with 24 home runs and 72 runs batted in 99 games this season. The Nationals announced the move before Wednesday nights game at San Francisco. Manager Matt Williams says an MRI on Ramos revealed a Grade-1 hamstring strain. Williams hopes Ramos will be back in the lineup as soon as hes eligible to come off the DL.

He was taken out of the game and initially thought the injury wouldnt sideline him. Ramos is batting .261 with one home run and 11 RBIs. Jose Lobaton started at catcher Wednesday night.
