DALLAS - Chandler Parsons did some extra work on his shooting in the morning, then made 11 of 14 shots on Sunday night.Parsons 28 points helped the Dallas
Mavericks roll to a 125-102 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks. He is just really
working at it, Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle said. We cancelled shootaround, but
he came in and wanted to shoot, so we shot for 20-30 minutes. The Mavericks built
a 13-point lead with a 12-0 run in the first quarter and didnt trail again in
their second victory in five days over the Bucks.Parsons had seven points in
that run and nine in the opening period.I wanted to work with (Carlisle). I
wasnt the only one here, but I just wanted to come in not asleep and be groggy,
he said.I dont think one extra shooting sessions going to help or hurt you, but
its always good to get extra work in.Dallas made 49 of 84 field goal attempts
(58 per cent). When you dont put any energy and effort into it, guys are going to
get wide-open shots and knock them down, Bucks coach Jason Kidd said. They did
that.Dirk Nowitzki, who was rested for the game at Milwaukee on Wednesday and
scored a season-low 10 points Friday, bounced back with 21 and Monta Ellis added
19. Ellis has averaged 26.8 points in his last six, including three of 30-plus.I
thought we shared the ball and we made some shots and attacked the basket,
Nowitzki said.Parsons 28 points were one off his season high, and he didnt play
in the fourth quarter. When you make your first couple, it changes the whole
game, makes everything a little easier, Parsons said. All five Bucks starters and
backup centre Zaza Pachulia scored in double figures, led by Giannis
Antetokounmpos 18 points. They came out tonight on fire. They were ready to roll,
said Milwaukees O.J. Mayo, who scored 12 points. The Bucks pulled within six four
times in the second quarter, but Dallas scored the last four points of the first
half to build a 59-46 lead. The Mavericks outscored Milwaukee 17-4 over the last
5 1/2 minutes of the quarter to lead 90-71 after three.TIP-INSBucks: Milwaukee
had made 59 per cent of its 3-point shots (16 for 27) in the two previous games,
including 7 for 11 (64 per cent) at home Wednesday in a 107-105 loss to Dallas.
Milwaukee was only 4 for 15 (27 per cent) Sunday. ... C Larry Sanders returned
to the starting lineup. He had played just 19 minutes off the bench in Fridays
win at Miami because of an illness.Mavericks: C Tyson Chandler had seven
rebounds, giving him 107 in his last seven games (15.3 average). ... Dallas
didnt play as much zone defence as in Wednesdays game at Milwaukee. When asked
the difference between the current Mavericks and the 2010-11 NBA champions zone,
Carlisle said, Jason Kidd was on that team. He was a great zone player. ...
Owner Mark Cuban said he hoped G Raymond Felton (sprained right ankle), who has
missed all season, would be able to play before Christmas. ... Cuban also said
he had made a proposal to the Big 12 a few years ago for an annual conference
championship football game.LONG RANGE FOR NOTHINGAt the end of the first
quarter, Milwaukees Jared Dudley put in a shot from beyond midcourt, about 55
feet from the basket. Officials ruled the shot came after the buzzer, so it
didnt count.MILITARY ANNIVERSARIESThe Mavericks hosted the 10th anniversary of
Seats for Soldiers, in which season ticket holders give up their front-row seats
to military personnel. It was also the 73rd anniversary of the bombing of Pearl
Harbor. Edward Guthrie, 94, who was serving in the Navy at Pearl Harbor on Dec.
7, 1941, was among those honoured. Dallas is 9-1 on Seats for Soldiers Night,
started by Cubans brother-in-law, Neal Hawks.UP NEXTBucks: Visit Oklahoma City
on Tuesday.Mavericks: Visit Memphis on Tuesday. The Winnipeg Goldeyes bats went
silent on Wednesday night and now the Fish find themselves in a fight to hold on
to first place. The Goldeyes dropped a doubleheader to the St. Paul Saints on
Wednesday in front of 5,936 spectators at Shaw Park and as a result, the
Goldeyes are now in a battle for first place in the American Associations North
Division. Not long ago the Fish had an 9 1/2 game lead on St. Paul, but after
losing the opener of the Twin Bill 5-2, then dropping the night cap 4-0, the
Goldeyes find themselves only 3 1/2 games ahead of the Saints with a huge game
coming up against St. Paul on Thursday at Noon. "You know, in the second game we
hit the ball pretty well, but it was one of those games when everything you hit
hard is right at somebody," said Goldeyes shortstop Tyler Kuhn. "Actually, their
pitchers did a real good job in both games of pounding the strike zone. They
didnt give up many free passes (only four walks in two games, none in Game 2)
and that makes it tough. They pitched really well." With the loss, the Fish fell
to 36-22 on the season while St. Paul improved to 32-25. The Goldeyes had won 11
straight in late June and early July, but in the first 10 games of an 11-game
homestand, the Goldeyes have now gone 2-8. In the second game of the
doubleheaderr on Wednesday night, the Goldeyes couldnt muster any
offense.dddddddddddd They scratched out five hits and had runners in scoring
position only twice. St. Paul scored a run in the third, one more in the fourth
and then put it away with a bases-loaded single by No. 8-hitter Jared McDonald
that drove in a pair of runs. St. Paul starter Jeff Shields (5-4, 2.96 ERA)
pitched a complete-game shutout and earned the win while Goldeyes starter Gabe
Aguilar (5-2, 3.03 ERA) suffered the loss. In the opener, the Goldeyes built an
early 2-0 lead, but couldnt hold on. In the second inning, Donnie Webb singled,
stole second and scored on a single by Reggie Abercrombie. After a ground out
and a walk, Abercrombie scored on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Tyler Kuhn. But
St. Paul battled back to tie it up in the fifth and then Jake Taylor won it with
a three-run homer off Nick Hernandez in the sixth. St. Paul starter Drew Gay
(3-0, 2.65 ERA) got the win, while Hernandez (5-2, 4.03 ERA) took the loss.
Mikey Mehlich picked up his first save of the year for the Saints. The Goldeyes
and Saints will play the fifth and final game of this series at Noon on
Thursday. Ethan Hollingsworth (3-0, 4.55 ERA) will get the start for Winnipeg
while Robert Coe (4-4, 6.75 ERA) will take to the bump for St. Paul.
