A lack of skills in English is no reason to avoid completing this test, especially in Texas. The state offers the test in Spanish and French as well as
in English. If interested in these other languages, be sure to contact the
center to ensure it is offered there. The test contains five required tests that
must be passed to earn the General Equivalency Diploma which is able to open
many doors not previously available to an individual.
Individuals will want to be well prepared before taking this test. Once they feel they are ready to test, they should complete a practice test. Although it
is not required, it can greatly increase the chance of passing the real test.
The practice test can also serve as a diagnostic tool to learn where one needs
to spend some extra time preparing to succeed with the test.
Texas requires an individual to live in the state and be at least 18 before completing the test. The individual may not be currently enrolled in a school or
have a high school diploma. One is required to have a government issued
identification card, such as a driver’s license or military ID. Those who meet
these requirements except for age may still test in certain conditions. At age
17 it is possible to test with a parent’s approval. At age 16, the court may
require the student to test due to a truancy charge. In addition, those in Job
