LAHORE: Pakistani cinema owners and managers are in favour of running Indian films because of dwindling audiences for Pakistani movies.
Pakistani films have flopped at the box office this year. Not one of the five films released on Eidul Azha managed a full house. Four films opened on Eidul Fitr, of which two managed one or two full shows but then struggled.
“It is a matter of survival,” Pakistan Cinema Management Association Chairman Qaiser Khan said, describing the Pakistani film industry as “clinically dead”. “Only a miracle can save it,” he added.
........'He said as soon as a film is released in India, its CDs and videotapes are available in Pakistani markets. Mr Rehman demanded the government either purge the market of Indian films or let Pakistani viewers watch them on the big screen.
“Showing Indian films will also encourage our producers to make better films and invest more money. Our Punjabi films can do good business in East Punjab,” said Mr Arif Khan.
“We could also have an agreement with India. We will give our films and they will give their films. Our Urdu films must really improve to have a market in India,” he said.
“We make a Punjabi film with only six million rupees. An Indian film is made for at least Rs 250 to 500 million. If we invest Rs 100 million in a Punjabi film, we would have a big market in the Indian Punjab. Our film producers, actors, directors and the other crew will make more money. Pakistani cinemas will get more business by showing Indian movies and Indians will have four more provinces as a market,” he said.
He said the Indian films could be censored for Pakistani viewers.'

yeah..right!all here know about bollywood standard...and budget also...
bollywood movies shod not release,becoz their budget is so high..
yeah..we only need bollywood technical facility such as soundtrack studio..Dance director... which already done some makers...people hate anti-islam and anti-pakistan propaganda..
and pakistan and indian situation didn't change still..may be kashmir problem solve...this can be happend.

i personally feel no problem ..... coz when we r watching da indian movies on DVD .VCD and even on our own tvz .. den wats da problem in cinema.... as far as cultural influnce ... itz rubbish ... coz when we gota easy acess to the movies thru our own tv.. n widin our houses.... so wat else .......
as far as concern wid da local industry .. certainly when dey gota competitor in market they hav to improve da quality n standard

very tru ffm. competition is always healthy!
and i would like 2 make another point:
99% of our actors and actresses are big fish in a small pond (lollywood). if they can make it in bollywood tho, and compete head 2 head with the likes of srk, salman khan, ashwariya, madhuri ect. it would truly be a significant accomplishment, don't u guys think???!!
i don't want 2 offend the HURDS of zara sheikh fans on this board, but i mean....look at how we have zara on this pedistle. its very easy 2 do so, cause her competition in lollywood is virtually non-existant. but put her in bollywood with the likes of ash, and madhuri...and then we can OFFICALLY seperate the real talent from the phonies. so the merging of lolly and bolly means more than just good movies...it means we the fans get 2 see who REALLY has the talent 2 survive!!!
btw.....i only used zara as an example. so b4 half of u spaz out....READ PROPERLY B4 U COMPLAIN.....!!

and this already starting last year..viewrs r so mature than before..they only hit quality movies with good direction and proper casting......our director,producer also not trainded about film making...wether they r educated..but training is more important..may be govt start film academy so better improvement purticularly actress...and only for showpeace in our movies.

well yesterday i was watching the tv interview given by salim sheikh and he said the reason of flopp movies is that the people now knows what the quality movie is now they want good picture quality good sound good music strong script and direction they want quality and now u cant make them foool he said movies like laaj commando and even lp survived at the box office cuz they got some thing in them so true na.

yeah.I also watched this interview..so true saleem sheikh..after 'Yeh dil aap ka hawa' pakistani trend dramatically changed..now responsibility on producer,director specially new comer.

i guess u have somewhat of a point, but for me, allowing indian movies 2 be shown in pakistan will force our people 2 make better movies. no competition means the producers/directors have a monoploy over us, and they'll continue 2 make average movies. and even tho u and i enjoy these movies, most in pk don't, 4 whatever reason!

The true reason Pak films have no substance or popular support is fear..... lollywood fears censors and the arts sports council, so they make weak meaningless films. hate and fear are great destroyers of creativity. hate and fear in the name of god will ruin us all in the end.
