While all desk-job specialists continue to spin yarn about Rakesh Roshan's new film, here's the official version from the maker himself. And, like ALWAYS, it's exclusively on IndiaFM.
So, what is Roshan Sr. planning next after the super-success of KOI… MIL GAYA? The various questions floating around are -
Is he making a sequel to the sci-fi fare?
Is he working on an international project so as to reach out to Hollywood?
Is he making a comparatively smaller film [in terms of budget] this time around?
“I can never make small or medium-budget films,” Roshan Sr. reveals his mindset, “I dream big and my projects will only get bigger with each film.”
There's talk that he's aiming for the international audience in his next film. True? “Not at all,” he laughs, “I want to make films that would appeal to anyone who buys the ticket. It should appeal to everyone, that's what I keep in mind while making a film. Mind you, I am not planning any international project at all. These are mere rumours.”
So what's the status on the script of his new film? “I am still working on the script. It will take at least two months for me to complete it. Only then would I be able to talk about it. You ought to have a good story - that's more important than anything else,” he reveals.
Though there was a gap between KAHO NAA… PYAAR HAI and KOI… MIL GAYA, there won't be much of a gap this time around. “My next film will roll by December for sure. That's what I am looking at,” he sounds elated.
While son Hrithik will head the cast of this new venture [that's a foregone conclusion!], Roshan Sr. is yet to decide on the balance cast of the film. “Things will fall into place only after I am through with the script,” he adds.
Meanwhile, Hrithik, who hasn't signed any film yet, will take up assignments once he returns from the stage shows. “There have been plenty of offers, but he hasn't confirmed any so far. The discussions are still on,” the proud father states.
But there are talks that Hrithik has given his consent to the Shaad Ali-directed film, to be produced by Yashraj Films. “Hrithik has been approached by them, but he hasn't signed on the dotted line yet. He'll take a decision when he returns from abroad,” Roshan Sr. clarifies.
So, that's the latest on the Roshans as of now. Keep watching this place for the official statements!
