Longtime Giants radio announcer Lon Simmons died Sunday from the age 91.
Simmons began calling games for ones NFL's 49ers in 1957, but was put onto the Giants broadcast team in the event the club moved west from Nyc in 1958. Famous for his dry wit, Simmons had three stints because the Giants announcer, moving on the bay to call A's games from 1981 to 1995. He was together with the Giants
Trey Hendrickson Jersey from 1958-73 and again from 1976-1979. He finished his broadcasting careercalling Giants games on your part-time basis from 1996-2002.

"To Giants fans everywhere, his voice was symbolic of Giants baseball for 50 years," the Giants said from a team statement. "Best renowned for his booming baritone voice, encyclopedic sports knowledge, flair on your dramatic and self-deprecating love of life, Lon was the hyperlink between generations of Phoenix sports fans and their hometown teams.
"He would be a legend among Giants fans, whose career in the team spanned five decades beginning as he joined Ru s Hodges in the broadcast booth in the team's first season

Simmons was the onlyGiants broadcaster to opening day games in anyway three of the San Francisco homes Seals Stadium, Candlestick Park and AT&T Park. His homer call, "Tell it goodbye," became iconic inside San fran.
"Like many fans, my earliest Giants memories were reading Lon and Ru s on my little transistor radio," Giants president and CEO Larry Baer said in a very statement. "Hearing his broadcasts ignited my and tens of thousands of others' love for Giants baseball. He'll be deeply mi sed by each of us."
Simmons had also been behind the mic for NFL defensive lineman Jim Marshall's infamous "wrong-way call" in 1964 and provided
Marcus Williams Jersey voiceovers for Sega video games during the 1990s.
Simmons, who received baseball's Ford Frick Award in 2004,is survived by daughters Robin, Cindy, Lisa and Kelsey. Commensurate with Simmons' request, no funeral services are planned.
