Saleem Sheikh is one of the few actors who is always there on the television playing different roles. When a number of actors left Lahore for Karachi because of better projects and money, Saleem stayed on in Lahore. He has been able to make his mark in the field of acting. Most of the directors want to cast him in their plays. But he too has changed his style. He has become more selective.
Saleem has just returned from Sargodha. He had gone there for the shooting of play 'Gongi Mohabbat' which is being made for competition. The play is being directed by Quetta TV director Atta Ullah Baloch. Shahid Nazir has written the script while the cast includes Saleem Sheikh, Maria Wasti and Zeb chaudhry. The play has been shot on original locations in Sargodha.
While talking to this scribe Saleem said 'It was a four day shooting spell. We enjoyed working in the play because it has been shot on original locations. The play is a love triangle and has a lot of new elements in it'.Saleem said that he has become very selective now about working in plays. 'I am now looking for challenging work now. It has been many years since I started working on television. I do not want to play stereo-type roles.
I am a bit selective about plays that are being offered to me these days'. Besides acting in plays Saleem is also producing a sitcom 'Teen Na Tera' which is going on air on ARY. It features around Saleem Sheikh, Ismail Tara and Behrooz Sabazwari. The sitcom is popular among the viewers.
