Resham is back from the Zee Cine Awards and she's flying high. Having lost weight, she feels in great form. She's confident her big budget movie Pehla Pehla Pyar will top the box office this May, the music video she's done with Urmila is making her hot news in India and most of all, she's still basking in the personal attention she got from Shahrukh Khan.
On meeting Shahrukh Khan
"I thought I was going to present the award with Javed Sheikh, but when we were on the red carpet a boy came up and said Shahrukh wanted to meet me. Shahrukh Khan? My heartbeat just went all racy. I mean he's the ultimate actor - I don't think there's a bigger star in Asia.
"When I went to Shahrukh's cabin he got up and hugged me. I just stopped breathing! He needed a little info on me because he wanted to introduce me onstage. Actually he was supposed to present the award with Juhi (Chawla) but opted for me instead. I don't think he knew me very well but because of the video I had done with Urmila I had been covered a lot by the Indian press. Plus with the Indo-Pak friendship strategy going on it was a good gesture."
On presenting the Award
"Shahrukh Khan introduced me onstage as 'beautiful', I presented the Best Supporting Actor Award to Saif Ali Khan and John Abraham was compering our segment. Twenty five crore people worldwide were watching the show... it was great!"
On her ensemble
"It was an Omar Saeed jora which I loved. But you know, I was showing too much cleavage. Representing Pakistan, I couldn't do that. Initially I had strung the dupatta around my neck but Javed Sheikh told me to cover up. Having lost around 6 kilos the shirt was a bit loose, and having heavy embroidery on the front my neckline was dipping deeper than decent."
On Pakistani Films
"You might think the industry is over, but I promise you things are going to change within the next two years. Let me tell you that only those people will be able to stay in the field who know their work. Not everyone will survive."
On her future
"My next film Pehla Pehla Pyar has a four crore budget and will be released in May. I'm back in the fashion scene. I'm doing a lot of music videos, the latest being Fuzon's 'Deewaney' shot with Urmila. Things are good. I would love to work in India but from now on I have decided to never compromise on the standard of movie and roles I'm given."
