SWADES is complete. And Yash Chopra's under-production film [not titled yet], starring SRK in the lead, is almost complete. Has SRK signed any other film? “No, not yet! I am taking a five-month break from work,” SRK enlightens me.
The superstar, who was in Singapore to perform at the IIFA Awards, is meeting deadlines so that he can devote time to his family… and his back, which continues to be a problem. “I am feeling much better now. But I've decided to take it easy for some time before I sign any new film,” he smiles.
The workaholic, who is known for his high energy levels, hosted a party in Mumbai to celebrate the success of MAIN HOON NA on May 21, boarded the midnight flight to Singapore, performed at the IIFA nite on May 22 and got into the next flight to London to be with his family. “It's my daughter's birthday today [May 22]. I haven't devoted time to them [his kids and wife] since the last few months. I want to be with them now,” he says.
Meanwhile, SRK has revived the promotion of MAIN HOON NA now that he is free from his shooting assignments. “I've been shooting non-stop for SWADES and Yash-ji's films. Now that I've time on my hands, I've started its promotion all over again. MAIN HOON NA is my biggest hit as a producer. I've made money and so have my distributors,” he looks content.
A few weeks ago, this writer broke the news of SRK and Yash and Karan Johar's Dharma Productions teaming up to produce films jointly. “I can never discuss business with Tom Uncle [Yash Johar]. When he said that he cannot make a film without my involvement and wants me to be associated with his new film as a joint producer [the film stars other artists], I said fine, send me the papers, I'll sign them. Seriously, I don't know the modalities of this joint venture,” SRK asserts, “I trust them completely.”
