Abid Ali and Jahanara Hai have four daughters, Malaika (Amna Hussain), Sajjal (Ayesha Khan), Alishba (Aminah Haq) and Laiba (Fiza Ali), who are all getting married on the same day. Three of them, Malaika, Sajjal and Laiba have chosen their own partners while Alishba’s wedding is an arranged one, to her father’s friend (Qazi Wajid’s) son Rameez (Aijaz Aslam).
They get married and then each has to face their own difficulties, in marriage. Malaika’s husband, Adnan Siddiqui, is a financially weak person and wants Malaika’s father to set him up financially. His demands start from the very beginning, creating problems for Malaika. Rameez was in love with another girl Ramsha and was forced by his parents, Qazi Wajid and Ayesha Khan, to marry Alishba. He marries her and then leaves the house on his wedding night.
Both Laiba and her husband Ayaad (Kamran Jillani) are very childish in their attitude and start fighting from the first day. Sajjal, who gets married to her cousin Shahzaib (Humayun Saeed) is the only one without any difficulties in marriage, or will she have some problems too…… The title track by Jawad Ahmed is quite good. Keep watching to see what fate has in store for the four sisters. - by Gina
Comments:
Another show of extravagance, but this time, maybe with a bit of heart. The Amna Haque track is a bit unbelievable and very melo-dramatic. Fiza Ali needs to stop acting like Kareena Kapoor and grow some acting nails in a hurry! Her story is a bit hard to swallow too. The only realistic tracks are of the other two sisters, Ayesha Khan and Amna Hussain.
Despite its almost unrealistic premise, the drama captured the viewers' attention because of the glitz and glamour, the very filmi situations (i.e. Fiza Ali's character losing her baby), and an overdose of melo-drama. Humayun Saeed's character is the hard-core Romeo of a very feminine romantic novel - not someone you find in every day life. The only issue that the drama touched on that can be termed as a positive, is the adoption issue, which was dealt with in the latter half of the story. Although I wish Seema Ghazal had done some research and shed some light on the Islamic way of foster care, but alas I am asking too much from someone who churns out a new serial every fortnight.
The last episode came of as a comedy as the issues faced by all the sisters were resolved in a matter of minutes (e.g. Amna Hussain's relationship with her sister-in-law). I wish the director would have laid of the very Hindu rasam of "gaud bharai" at the end of the drama because on one hand everyone laments the fact that the Indian culture has seeped through our society and on the other hand we proudly show these 'rasms' as a hallmark of our society. Just my two cents. Do watch this drama (being advertised that it is available both on DVD and VCD) if you want to take an emotional roller coaster ride into the world of fiction and fantasy. Deserving high marks is the song by Shaaz Ali - Aik Pyaari Pyaari Ladki, a fresh and welcome change - which comes midway into the play and captures the viewer because of its beautiful singing and lyrics. Who is this Shaaz Ali? We would like to listen to more of him :-) - by Saadia
MEHNDI The best I've ever seen. Laiba (Fiza Ali) speaks like a kid but thats ok. Best acting is done by Humayun Saeed. It is kind of sad. I would rate it 4 out of 5. - by Ghezala
I am glad that you raised the the two issues in your comments about the lack of islamic aspect of adoption in the drama and also regarding the critic w.r.t "god bharaee" rasam. Why can't we search for cultural aspects within our own principles and try to elaborate them! Anyhow, besides this I have one very BIG request to all the producers/directors etc.: pls. pls. pls. refrain from putting on wigs on the actors which are so obvious that it needs a LOT of goodwill to ignore them. -by Majida
