Since lately one has heard nothing of his film Mission Allah Akbar. They are confusing reports nearly every week on what film Shaan is directing. Sometimes its an Punjabi film or then an Urdu film or nothing.

The person who really gived Shaan a second birth in Lollywood was Syed Noor. Not only Ghunghat helped Shaan but also the songs of Sangham which were shown TV day and night. Shaan who was virtually out of the industry by the mid 1990s and it was at this time he decided to direct Gun and Roses.

Agree with your sentiments aanizdabst. But when the latest facilties are not available in Pakistan what can you do. No one is coming forward with latest film studios or equipment. Everyone just talks in Pakistan and no action.

Even Shoaib Mansoor recently had to go to India for the processing of his film.

We have gone through this so many times on this forum but who is going to listen to us.

Both what the film industry and the TV channels are going is totally wrong.

At the end it all depends on the goverment if they are really serious in promoting Pakistan culture through the visual media and show the world the real Pakistan.

The outside world has such a negative image of Pakistan. Does our government need any other incentive. We may be a nuclear power and but we also need to become a media power and that can be done through Cinema and TV.

Our various governments have done nothing for the last 52 years and one does not expect miracles in the near future.

Its a sad scenerio.

Golimoro2 you are right about Khalil Rana's film Double entry and surely Reema will start her new film once the script and music are complete. By that time she surely will find a producer for her film.

I also read in one of Reema's interwiews that she sold a plot of land and some Jewellery to finance KTSK.

Thats what you call dedication.

yoyo I don't now if you have the PPP audio CD but look on the cover and you will see that it has been released by a company called Thar Productions. They also released the audio cd of KTSIPH and KTSK.

How can you then say that Luqman formed his own audio company and released it himself.

Currently its the TV industry which is getting effected more then films and even some of our TV actors have started to complain.

Its basically an easy way out for our Drama producers who want people to watch Pakistani dramas by giving the public Indian faces which they watch daily on Star TV and Zees of this world.

Would it not be better if our Television directors improved the standard of Pakistani dramas and get people to watch our TV Channnels again.

The same goes for our film industry which should make films with its own talent.

All this might work in the short run but what about the long run.

Like this we are just helping the Indians and are destroying our own talent.

Its just not Javed Shiekh but even Shehzad Rafiq and Hamayoun Saeed who was in India recently to record the music of his film "Tere Liye" want to sign Indian stars in their films.

The situation is even crazier in our dramas where a number of Indian actors and actresses are appearing and in fact our own actors and actresses are getting secondary roles in these dramas. This is the reason why recently Atiqa Odauo refused to act in a play because of getting a smaller role.

When are we ever going to trust our own talent.

How much money has Luqman made from non-box office revenue. Like how much did he sell the audio rights for PPP. It won't be much but still interested.

Another thing which does not help our industry is piracy.

I have heard he is planning another movie and what about releasing it in the UK.

Another news item regarding Reema is that she is not making a film currently but will be directing a drama seriel for a private TV Channel which will be shot in Malaysia.

The real fact is both Reema and Ajab Gul are struggling to find financiers for their next projects. Both want to big films which in turns requires a lot of investment.

This is the same reason why Javed Shiekh is struggling to complete his film even it has been nearly 3 years when he started his film.

The same also goes to the makers of Salakhain. Khalil Rana is producing a Punjabi film which won't cost us much as an Urdu film.

Even the producers of all these films have made good money from their previous films but are scared that next time what will happens when the stakes are even higher.

Why do our film makers insist on making big budget movies. They must realise the market for Pakistani films and its recovery in the local market.

The indians recup about 30% of the total investment of their film before even the film hits the Cinemas. They recup the money from audio rights, DVD/video rights, Satellite rights, and Overseas market. This is something unheard in Pakistan.

YDAKH which had a budget for 4 crore rupees and its audio rights were sold for a pathetic 10 lakhs rupees and that was a record in Pakistan.

Even more then 90% of Bollywood films flop but the Indians still have no problems in starting new films because they recover their money and also they are 10 times bigger then us which of course helps.

Our film makers should also need to control their budgets for film. Do we really need to shoot our films overseas. Can we not use our own playback singers and record the music in Pakistan. What is the use of having Indian Choreographers. We need the latest film equipment in Pakistan and also the latest film production facilites in Pakistan if our industry wants to go forward.

Its becoming a joke when our film makers are running to India or Thailand for post production.

We need to concentrate more on the basics of good film making. The biggest weak point of our films is weak scripts or we just keep on repeating the same old subjects.

Even recents films like KTSK and PPP offered nothing in terms of subjects.

I agree that Shaan is wasting his time by doing these Badmash and Gujjar type films. As an actor he really does not need to prove himself. Having been in the industry for the last 15 years or so he really should not be short of money at least but when people ask him this question he says he has a family to support.

Most critics believe not is he a good actor but in fact a much better director and critics also believe he can leave all the film industry behind. He should be spending more time on direction.

After directing 4 films he has not directed another film for the last 4 years.

He has not produced any film himself. His first two films were produced by Tanvir Fatima. That included the classy Mujhey Chand Chaiye.

He is so talented and its really a shame that he is throwing it away.

Currently he has hired Frieha Altaf as his PR manager and he has appeared in some commericals and has even directed one commerical. Also hosted the recent Lux Awards show.

Also is appearing in Saqib Malik's film Ajnabee.

Faisal Qureshi basically never made it as a film actor. When he got in to TV he transformed his looks and especially lost alot of weight and has been successful.

Momi has made the right choice.

Taify what are the Urdu film weeklies like the Nigar Weekly, Filmi Parcha and Noor Jehan weekly saying about the film's box office status.

I used to get the Nigar weekly myself on a regular basis before.

Also Faisla has a lollywood box office report and gives the collections from Lahore and Karachi but that comes out after every 2 weeks.

More on PPP from the News International

From a whimper to a non-whimper. We're talking about the much-awaited flick Pehla Pehla Pyar, which finally made it to the cinemas. But from what we have been told by our moles, the film did not even create a mini moan at the box office. Its premiere was held at a cinema in Karachi, which was attended by quite a few members of the glitterati, thanks to the personal PR of Mussarat Misbah, the name behind Depilex Vision, which produced the film. We are told that there were quite a few hiccups in the movie and the report so far is that it has failed to draw in the masses. Oh, and it seemed rather odd that the scriptwriter of the movie, Irfan Ahmed Urfi, who despite being in Karachi, was not invited at the premiere. Also missing from the scene was Navaid Rasheed aka Tony who was the production coordinator of the project and also had a small role in it. Strange indeed!

Of the names that you are have mentioned Javaid Fazil is a film director who only the last few years has switched to TV.

Shoaib Mansoor I agree is a genius and Saqib Malik is reallly a music video director but really another very creative person. These two will not let us down.

Humayun Saeed will only produce his film and will not direct it.

I have nothing against TV directors making films but they have always have critized film makers for making bad films. In turn when they themselves have made films they have made tall claims about their films.

I also agree that I cannot understand why does our media when reviewing Pakistani films compare it with Indian films and in turn bash Pakistani films.

I would love to see the Indian filmmakers come to Pakistan and make films here with the same facilities and in the same conditions.

One thing which this has proved yet again that people from TV are totally useless at filmmaking. What a waste.

I will have to give you credit for your perseverance. One thing for sure I Know now where you spend most of your spare time.

Well I am calling it quits because I feel both of us are not going to achieve anything from this. So why should we both fight and especially when you are a fellow Pakistani.

I am sorry if I have offended you any way.

I would like to meet you some time.

Tell me who is being childish now.

Do you really think that I am going to sit here and spend 2 to 3 hours going through your posts on this forum and the gupshup forum and then provide you with all the links. You very well now what you have written but If you still insist then I will provide you the links.

As I have said before in very simple English which you some how cannot understand that I do respect your views and if we all had the same views the world would be a boring place.

If you are going to praise someone or critize them then there should be some logic or objective behind it. Its as simple as that.

It does not matter what I say or anyone else says you are just too thick to listen to others.

Yes, I am talking about the gupshup forum where you use your real name SUHAIB, if it is that.

Any how I am not going to waste my time again writing on this topic any more because I have better things to do you are just going around in circles.

Lets see what really happens to PPP and I hope it succeeds at the box office.

I just hope that you live and learn.

Yoyo, it looks like that I am banging my head against a brick wall with you and I am not the only on this forum.

I am not saying that you have to agree with me because everyone has different views and I respect your views.

But your views are very rigid and are very set. You should look at both sides and then decide.

Your views on Mubasher and his film have been clouded by the fact that he writes on a different forum and you have blindly followed him.

I certaintly now your views on Reema which you have written on a different forum. I am glad that you have not written these views here.

You have not even spared me when I wrote about Pakistani channels on that particular forum. You called me indianised and Pandu. What a joke!. What I wrote was the truth believe it or not.

Please yoyo wake up and see whats really happening in Pakistani showbiz and not what you think is happening.

The best thing probably for you is to visit Pakistan and that might just open your eyes.

Finally I would like to say look at things with an open mind and then decide.

Yoyo do I really have to spell it out to you and tell you who is being childish.

Why I bought KTSK in the discussion was because to tell that you always have had one view for KTSK and another view for PPP. This has been happening for months and you have never even seen PPP but you have always have rated PPP as the best Pakistani film ever made.

At the end of the day both are Pakistani films and you should look at both films with the same objectives.

You on the other hand have made it in to a battle between Reema V Mubasher Luqman.

I atleast have no connections with either of them.

Mere liye jo acha kaam karay ga I will support them.

Yoyo mujhey sirf tori boti english hi parni aati hai. I am sorry. The reason why I mentioned the Indian channels was of the quality of the trailors shown on them. Read my second paragraph.

Any how this is getting childish and yoyo you win. PPP is the best film ever.

Thats brilliant because most of the time the print qand sound quality is pretty pathetic. You then cannot believe its the same film you have seen on the big screen.

Yoyo, you are talking rubbish. The trailors were aired not from only Pakistani channels but also from Indian channels like ZEE and B4U. In fact B4U showed the full songs of the film and they aired the interview of Reema in their segment Rushes numerous times.

It looks like either you are blind or just being ignorant because there was nothing wrong with the print quality of the trailors especially the ones shown on the Indian channels. You are probably talking about cheap free channels like DM Digital or ATN. The picture quality of these channels is pathetic any way.

You are praising the promos of PPP but I have only seen one promo here in the UK on Prime TV. The film is not even getting released here so where have you seen these promos.

If people did not want to see KTSK then its there bad luck. You can't expect people to rush out of their homes when only one Pakistani film is released here after nearly 2 years.

We need to release at least 1 quality film per month and create the required hype. Then you will see people watching Pakistani movies on the big screen.

Yoyo you amaze me. Firstly you fell for PPP by just looking at its website and in turn went against KTSK after seeing its trailor and hearing about its story.

Have you ever seen KTSK in the first place. The film got positive reviews in all the press in Pakistan. It was the biggest hit in Pakistan last year. I have also seen the film and its pretty good. Tell me whats wrong it.

Your argument that the film does not show Pakistani culture. You are implying that PPP does show Pakistani culture and what happened in KTSK never happens in Pakistan.

Even if I do agree with you then tell me who is portraying Pakistani culture. Its just not our films but to be honest does even our TV plays really portray Pakistani culture.

The sad fact is we getting too inspired by the Indians.

I can't understand his objectives.
