From Dubai's majestic Safari desert and exotic Jhumeira Beach to Eagle House, Bangkok, where a number of Hollywood films have been shot, Mubasher Lucman's debut directorial venture, Pehla Pehla Pyar promises a visual treat. Also, because it is filmed on latest ARRI cameras and with some valuable technical and creative help from Bollywood cinematographer, Amir Ali, choreographer, Jojo, and (all told!) music composer, Anu Malik.
Eventually, you get over half a dozen ditties that sound pleasing to the ears as much as they look appealing on screen. At least, they are worth a second dekko.
Launching a full-blooded publicity campaign, Mubasher held a special press showing of Pehla…'s promos, at Depilex, Lahore, Tuesday afternoon, which was a modestly attended affair, with leading lady Resham, standing tall - literally - alongside 6-plus-footer, hero Ali Tabish, and the film's dialogue and screenplay writer, Mr Ali Sufiyan Afaqi. Zara Sheikh, who plays the second lead, was conspicuous by her absence.
Of course, Mubasher made a gregarious master of ceremonies, and provided some competent insight into Pehla…, before finally playing the promos that, he said, had been prepared especially to suit the television audience. "They concentrate more on music, while the promos prepared for theatre include dialogues as well." Mubasher told newsmen that he would be flying off to Bangkok where the film was in its final stage of mixing.
He did not give a date for release, but hinted at the possibility of a pre-Eid ul Azha premiere.
He also said that negotiations were on with distributors for the film's international release.
Pehla…also marks Depilex's first foray into film production.
