WYSIWYG Editor

Admins, please enable the WYSIWYG Editor of the forum. It feels quite awkward placing the formatting tags manually, specially for larger posts requiring proper formatting. While this facilty is already available in the forum software, there seems no reason that it should be disabled. The users who are used to classic editor and feel comfortable with it, they can opt for the same. And who want to use WYSIWYG editor should be given the option to do so. Its just a configuration change and will not bother you much. I hope you will give it a consideration.

Regards,
Zeeshan Ahmed.

PERHI LIKHI BAAT....kuchh samajh nahin aaya

Posted on 10/4/2005 8:34:58 PM

one week ho gaya post kiye ko, lagta hai kisi ko bhi samajh nahi aya

waisay ye topic wol kay liye tha, laikin ab pata chala kay sick hain is liye online nahi aa rahay, i hope unhain zaroor samajh aa jaye gi, he is a genious.

and for others information, when we post a topic or reply to a topic and write our post, we have to put tags like [ b] and [ /b] to make text bold and [ i] and [ /i] for itallic and so on. on a wyswyg editor we dont have to put tags, instead select the text and click a button to achieve the desired effect, and its so simple to write a neat post without having to worry about tag placement.

thats what i am saying. we have to put tags either manually, by buttons, or by prompt, and then place text within them proerly. for smaller posts it doesnt matter, but as the post size increases it becomes troublesome. let me explain it by screenshots...

Look at this, formatting with tags:

---------------------------------------------

And this one, formatting without bothering about tags:

---------------------------------------------

---------------------------------------------

You can see which one is more comfortable. WYSIWYG also shows us instant preview of what we are posting.

Rich Text Editor WYSIWYG:
This is the type of editor you use to post messages if you are using a Rich Text Enabled web browser, currently Windows IE5+, Netscape 7.1+, Mozilla 1.3+, and Mozilla Firebird 0.6.1+, support this feature.
If you turn this function off everyone will use the Basic message editor.
If you want greater security turn this feature off, but you will lose functionality.

well, let me think abt it ...

thanks for yours suggestion. Zeeshan bahi ...

Zeeshan It is easy and good approach.I appreciate it but some time it become resource hungry on Client Machine. And it will create mess on Browsers like Netsacpe ,Opera and Mozilla Browsers. The current scenario is almost compatible on all browsers.

Once again very good suggestion .I will also check for the WYSIWG Editor limitations and I will advise admins about that.Your efforts and suggestions are highly appriciated
