Awarapan collects Rs 80 million in Pakistan

MUMBAI: Vishesh Films' Awarapan lost out to Aap Ka Suroor and Apne, at the box office due to the simultaneous release of the films. However, it’s a different story in the neighboring country Pakistan, Awarapan is gaining popularity. The film has collected Rs 80 million (Rs 8 crores) there.

Speaking exclusively to Businessofcinema.com, producer Mahesh Bhatt says, “Awarapan is one of the finest stories told on the big screen. Emraan’s performance was admired by one and all, but somehow it didn’t do too well in India. But, the film has become a rage in Pakistan where it has grossed more than Rs 80 million so far.”

Speaking about Vishesh Film’s expansion plans, Bhatt adds, “We are looking at international co-productions in the coming time apart from making content for the small screen as well. There are many plans in the pipeline but it’s too early to speak about them.”

At the moment Bhatt is busy overseeing Pooja Bhatt’s Dhokha, which is slated to release at the end of August.

It was just becuz ppl were excited tht an proper indian film has released.The film is even not liked by majority of Pakistan.Its boring.Its not a bad film..but still its Thumbs Down

8 carores mahesh bhatt and this writer is gotta be kidding yeh dil apka huwa was showing to almost 4 theaters in karachi and in similar numbers in rest of the country and it ended up with the collection of 7 carores nationwide   and awarapan is jus released in one theater in karachi and in the entire country kisi bhi city mein its not released in more then 2 cinema's then how cud be the business is 8 carore's iam sorry but this is fake yeah it might have earned 1 or 2 carores uptil now but 8 carore is a big fat lie

Even the film was dropped from Plaza Cinema some weeks bak to make space for Die Hard 4 and others!!

well when figures come out producers mouth they are always more then the original collections.

i think the film has done 5 crores, but if it wasnt for kkl it would have easily crossed 10 crores.

8 crore is rubbish and so is 5 crore. Its more likely to be 3 crore maximum.

What is disturbing is that a number of Cinemas are prefering to go show Awarapan instead of Khuda Kay Liye. Even the business of KKL is brilliant.

One example is the Alfalah Theatre on Mall Road, Lahore which is going to start showing films again and the first film they are going to show is Awarapan.

Our mentally with Indian films is not going to go away.

Awarapan 80 million.....hahahaha in one month.
It could be possible if we have Bangladesh as East Pakistan too.But not today...even the maximum business for month will hardly under 30 Million.
