FUZON SNUBBED???

The first independent music awards have happened. And not by any channel in Pakistan, but on the audacious website www.bandbaja.org, which has become the voice of the Pakistani rock scene...

- Ali Azmat's/Junoon's 'Garaj Baras' was named the Song Of The Year beating out 'Aankhon Ke Saagar' (Fuzon), 'Irtiqa' (EP) and 'Gana # 1' (Noori).

- Noori's Suno Ke Main Hoon Jawaan was judged to be the Best Rock Album beating out Irtiqa, Gardish and rock daddy Junoon's Dewaar. Noori were also named the best rock band.

- However, even though Ali Azmat's pseudo classical 'Garaj Baras' qualifies as rock, Fuzon are put into the pop category with Strings, Ahmed Jehanzeb and Rushk? Shafqat Amanat Ali Khan was named the best Male Pop Performer for his rendition of 'Ankhon Ke Saagar', which was also judged to be the Best Pop song. Saagar was also named the Best Pop Album. One wonders where they draw the boundaries that separate pop and rock in a country where everyone ends up playing everything, but only one band can rock with raags intact -- only to be labelled pop musicians by a cult site that looks at how much a band looks to the West to label them 'rock musicians'.

the last point is SO tru. all these bands regardless of wheather they r pop or rock cannot sing with raags in tact, ala fuzon!!

so what do u guys think? does fuzon fall under rock, or pop?? and were they snubbed as a result of this website and their opinion of which category fuzon falls under??

fuzon, doesnt fall under the pop category, and neither does it fall under the rock category!
as far as i know, they do sumthin in between the two!
they r quite classically orientated and if i had to pic one category for them, id put them in pop!
