In a moment He'll be tall enough To go on the rides Alone At that great height Kisses are humbled by the gravity of adulthood And fall, Powerless as dust

I bent and kissed him goodbye on the corner The happy school path kissed his little soles His bobbing heels wave merrily back to me This baby who was tugged resisting from my body Skips up the path at his own pace Books he can read bouncing on his small back All the world’s knowledge bouncing on his small back Ideas as big as trees rushing from his forehead Remote control devices for climbing beanstalks Ingenious ways to end famine and war His sweet voice piping non-stop, so I can barely sense The overhanging Giant’s vile oaths, wafted down on odious breath.

Wild Einstein clouds Expound from shocking top corners Falling, falling relatively through blue

Time expands, reeling Space folds down, diminished To strings and wormholes Without your warm, certain presence In three, wholesome dimensions
I am all at sea with these buildings Unless you anchor me You, my gravitational constant Telling me up from down So I may walk through the valleys Of my home planet Keeping balance Between rooted earth, adventuring sky.
