In contrast to the Windows Mobile-based XPERIA, the other phones from Sony Ericsson are not “so scandalous” and are rather standard for the brand.
After K, W, T, J and the newly announced R-series of phones, Sony Ericsson now puts “G” into the game, as a few rumors said earlier. The new G900 and G700 are Symbian UIQ smartphones with compact dimensions, touch screen and standard numeric keypad. The manufacturer notes that the touch screen is an extra, for more convenient usage, but the phones are expected to be operated just as a regular ones. The interface is additionally personalized for faster access to certain applications, directly from the home-screen.
Sony Ericsson G900 is the high-end model of the series: it is smart, it is pocket-friendly, and it has 5-megapixel camera, which sounds way better than the other UIQ phones. It has auto-focus and allows you to choose the focusing area, by tapping anywhere on the viewfinder. For Internet connection, one can use WiFi or UMTS, but unfortunately only tri-band, the G900 is not suitable for the US. It will be available in two colors: Dark Brown, and the feminine Dark Red.
The G700 strips down the WiFi and has 3-megapixel camera with fixed focus, but adds two additional keys in the navigation keypad. It will also be available in two color variants: Silk Bronze and Mineral Grey.
