----- Original Message ----- Pros and cons when upgrading from Girlfriend 1.0 to Wife 1.0
Performance demanding
Last year a good friend of mine upgraded from Girlfriend 1.0 to Wife 1.0 and then realised that the program demanded so much performance that it was more or less impossible to run other programs.
He also noticed that Wife 1.0 generates a so-called ”Child-Process” that will demand even more performance in the future. None of these factors were mentioned in the manual or in the product information, but other Wife 1.0 users have warned about these phenomenons in the application.
But not only that, Wife 1.0 installs itself in a way so that it is always active and so that it can monitor all other system activities.
Causes other programs to crash
He discovered that some programs such as Pokernight 10.3, Beerbash 2.5 and Pubnight 7.0 were not runnable at all as the whole system crashes and causes the error message ”YOU HAVE PERFORMED AN ILLEGAL ACTION”, even though they were runable before.
During the installation one is also facing unwanted Plug-ins such as MotherInLaw 55.8 and BrotherInLaw beta-version.
Few Functions
Further more, the program-design lacks of functions.
A few improvements he’d like to see in Wife 2.0 are *A ”don’t remind me again” button*, *A Minimizer* and an installation guide that can uninstall Wife without loosing certain resources in the system
I have made the decision to avoid these problems in Wife 1.0 by upgrading to Girlfriend 2.0 instead.
Girlfriend 2.0
But there are problems here as well. Pretty obvious one can’t install Girlfriend 2.0 on top of Girlfriend 1.0. Girlfriend 1.0 needs to be uninstalled first. Other users say that this is a known bug that one should know about. Apparently there’s a conflict when both versions are to share the same components. One thinks that a stupid bug like that would have been fixed…
Even worse is that the uninstallment for Girlfriend 1.0 doesn’t work properly. It leaves small, but very noticeable traces in the whole system.
Another very annoying thing to remember: All versions of Girlfriend keep sending popup messages about the benefits of upgrading to Wife 1.0.
Problems when installing Mistress 1.1 and other shareware-programs
Wife 1.0 also has an undocumented bug. If you try installing Mistress 1.1 before uninstalling Wife 1.0, Wife 1.0 will delete all MsMoney files and then uninstall itself. After that it will be impossible to install Mistress 1.1 due to lack of resources in the system. To avoid the above bug, try to install Mistress 1.1 on a completely different system, and never run file transfers or any network connections
Also avoid similar shareware programs such as OneNightStand 2.1 as they may contain viruses that will affect Wife 1.0. Another solution is to run Mistress 1.1 via an Internet-provider under a false name. But beware of viruses that unknowingly might be downloaded.
