Last Friday I heard a friday khutbah.And speaker said a very beautiful thing that stuck in my mind.So I thought to share with all of you.He said I asked so many people about Ramadan,what special you are all thinking to do in this Ramadan? so every one answered that they will pray more and more.and will regularly do taraweeh and will finish 3 or more Quran,and will do tahajjad,and will do umra and so on and so far,its really good to hear about all ibaddat ,but he said no one said one and more important thing that they will clear their heart towards people,This cleansing process is mandatory to prepare our hearts to receive the gifts of God.we all have anger,hate and jealousy towards other people ,we are all hypocrats.So Roza is the name of not only hungry and thirsty and ibadat but top of the list should be the process of having our hearts completely pure and clean.If we have hate and anger in our heart then its the example of Trash can ,that bottom is all trash and we are filling good stuff on top,so thats no use.
There is a systematic approach that we can take to reach this level.The Quran actually gives us guidance in a step-wise method:
Clear your hear towards peopleMost of us are ready to evaluate others,their good and bad,but do we ever reflect our own shortcomings? As the prophet said" Glad tidings to that person who is preoccupied by his own shortcomings rather than delving in other's people's shortcomings."Those who fail to hold themselves accountable will never reach a stage of improvement.
Be objective,fair and just The Quran teaches us very clearly not to have a double standard."oh ya who attained faith,be ever steadfast in your devotion to God,bearing witness to the truth in all equity; and never let hatred of anyone lead you into the sin of deviating from justice. But just,this is the closets to being God -conscious and remain conscious of God.verily God is aware of all that you do," (5:8)
could it be that the other person is better than me? Donot ridicule or mock people.Those people that you mock may be better than you in the eye of God.
control your anger This is a step farther than just being fair. Don't act through the impulse of anger."who spend in His way in time of plenty and in time of hardship and hold in check their anger.." (3:134).
Don't just control your anger but forgive Forgiveness is a divine character. "and forgive their fellow men because God loves the doers of good: 3:134 This is a higher stage in cleaning what we have in our hearts towards other people.
wish for others what you wish for yourself This is a more difficult task that needs a special approach,training and spirituality.so try for it.
General attitude of softness and kindness in dealings. "And it was God's grace that you,O Prophet,did deal gently with your followers,for if you had been harsh and hard to heart,they would have indeed broken away from you..."3:159
May God guide our footsteps to His path,and give us the ability and sensitivity to understand the Quran ,May God accept all our efforts and fasting.*
