The Road to Nowhere

To travel the road to nowhere.
The soul's dark amazon.
Eternal peace is anywhere,
the mind might set upon.

To travel the road to nowhere.
To know you're really gone.
And when you finally get there,
to find your god is Ron.

There's something in the cupboard, boy.
There's something in the dark.
There's something in the cupboard, boy,
that leaves a lasting mark.

There's something in the cupboard, boy.
Old secrets gather dust.
There's something in the cupboard, boy,
that reeks decay and must.

To travel the road to nowhere.
Reading signposts from beyond.
As self-deceit completes defeat,
a cold ghost light is shone,
on Ron. On Ron.

He learned to sham at his father's knee.
He knew the power of story.
He lived by lies and fantasies,
and dreamed of fame and glory.

So travel the road but beware,
for he drew an arcane map.
His weak and dismal followers,
could see no fatal trap.

But in his inner circle,
his worth would soon reveal.
To those that rail and cavil,
he'd crush beneath his heel.

There's something in the cupboard, boy.
The sweetest scent of musk.
There's something in the cupboard, boy,
as warm and moist as lust.

To travel the road to nowhere.
It's not the smoothest ride.
To have all faith you must defer,
to a self-referring guide.

To travel the road to nowhere.
To avoid the rush and throng.
Unravel in the space of somewhere,
and sing a specious song.

There's something in the cupboard, boy.
It's got an evil breath.
There's something in the cupboard, boy,
that toys with fear and death.

To travel the road to nowhere.
And wield your magic wand.
A shuffling prisoner of despair,
when fragile hopes abscond.

To travel the road to nowhere.
A funeral dress you don.
All truth is moulded out there,
like a Sci-Fi writer's con.

There's something in the cupboard, boy.
You hear it scratch and whine.
There's something in the cupboard, boy,
both bedevilled and divine.

To travel the road to nowhere.
To follow a different sun.
To travel the road with due care,
not to end as you begun.

To travel the road to nowhere,
to life's grim denouement.
Be sighted by the cross hairs,
released from earthly bond.

To travel the road to nowhere.
Your face is drawn and wan.
Your self-belief masks hidden grief,
while the thief of time moves on.

I gaze upon such wondrous space,
God's creations given in grace.
To contemplate my joys this day,
new found wondrousness to amaze.

Spy super nova being born,
see thunderheads that come to warn.
Captivating intensity,
overwhelming propensity.

Where ancient myths roam and play,
beyond galaxy Milky Way.
We come to rest at heaven's gate,
where angels sing and stars pulsate.

Each day Sol comes to set rise and set,
upon our dreams and some regret.
To close the distance from afar,
two lovers chose a special star.

Before me lay the universe,
wonderous sights as minds immerse.
To dream and drift on moonbeams high,
feel so blessed neath beauteous sky.

colors awaken
nature dressed in finery
red maples rustle

crimson prominence
autumn befalls the season
canvas soon unveiled

impending repose
prelude to brittle branches
beauty surrenders

The way to find the answers,
Is searching every part;
I read the endless journals,
Of my mind, my soul, my heart.
I search through every page,
Finding clues to all my dreams,
The poem on the paper,
Is not what it seems.
The words escape my heart
And fill the empty whole,
The answer to the question,
Is the free poetic soul.

A charm invests a face
Imperfectly beheld.
The lady dare not lift her veil
For fear it be dispelled.

But peers beyond her mesh,
And wishes, and denies,
Lest interview annul a want
That image satisfies.

'Neath dappled rays
their faces glow
as morning weaves
it's magic blush.

Each bloom rejoices
petals open wide
in softness fans
love's prediction.

Lilting laughter
permeates
in giggling, girlish sounds.

As daisies plucked,
a necklace fashioned
as in childish pride
they flaunt their prize.

Each day they'll flourish
to greet the day,
blissfully unaware
of impending demise.

"Don't worry about a thing,
'Cause every little thing is gonna be alright.
Singin': "Don't worry about a thing,
'Cause every little thing is gonna be alright!"

Rise up this mornin',
Smiled with the risin' sun,
Three little birds
Pitch by my doorstep
Singin' sweet songs
Of melodies pure and true,
Sayin', ("This is my message to you-ou-ou:")

Singin': "Don't worry 'bout a thing,
'Cause every little thing is gonna be alright."
Singin': "Don't worry (don't worry) 'bout a thing,
'Cause every little thing is gonna be alright!"

From where the rain first fell, gathered force
to rill, cut course, ran to join in stream,
became river to ocean come ~

stone shows the weathered edge, breaks
down to sand, mixes with the roll and churn
of life, ‘til loamy rich it provides for seed.
Held sweet, drinks deep and gives forth fruit.

Humans bear the brunt of life’s fierce work.
The heat of passions thrust to join, create
both richness, home and life. We look ahead
to cut course upon a pathless field.

Hold the past both blessed scarred a tally card.
Conceive the dream chart the course only belief
drives us to what we want to see as true. Who
has the strength to face the fears
what might come, what dream undone?

This person raised from earth, who holds both
past and future told. Animal human, more than beast,
creates both pain and incredible feast. Potential
vast in uncharted glory, can bring to rubble history's
wonders to plunder or build ~ this being can be blind
debased, pummeled by indignities of fate. In one moment
sublime create a miracle that raises spirits for all time.

Never doubt this storm tossed sea that fate stands
to forecast what shall be. Know instead that we face fate
describe, then create from resources vast what shall be.
