Reason I started this topic is because fasting, blessings and multitude of rewards offered in this month of Ramadhan and lailatul Qadr were all given this high status because of Quran.
It is Quran for which prophet SAW used to make dua to make it the companion in the loneliness of the grave; to make it the light in the darkness of grave; make it the guide to paradise on the day of judgment and an intercessor for us in the day of judgment; and make it a source of guidance in this life.
Most people undermine the importance of Quran in this month and its becoming a disease of epidemic proportions among Muslims. Institutions are now producing Huffaz who could cater to that demand.
Do we think it should be a matter of concern to us?

Badal: I didn't write what I wrote to challenge what you wrote. Its just an addition.
I agree with the notion tht until people learn to understand Quran, they continue reciting it. I however want to shed some light on the state of ignorance and maintaining the minimum. This has taken us to a point where people want to do away with that minimum and look for alternatives - like praying taraveeh for 3 days, finish Quran and go back to the business.

This has gone over board. I ignore him and his posts. But now he's leveling serious allegations on my character. This is slandering without proof. That's why I thanked him for gifting his good deeds of Ramadhan to me just by doing that.

One of my uncles used to put me down, actually my siblings too when we were younger. I haven't seen him in about 8 years. But I know he does everything to put us down.

I would say training with education. By that I mean Tarbiyat: when education is committed to heart and mind.
Nikama grat question. Haya is God gifted to every one - its the fitra of human creation.
The real thing is what's the motivation for haya? Why should one stay away from haram even when they know its haram?
Only motivation to that is firm belief and understanding of meeting with the Lord Almighty who will take account of actions. This motivation must be instilled among children.

Its not that AK, SRK's having sum misunderstanding and has been leveling accusations for some time without substantiating it with any proofs. I have no idea about his problem. I had it with him and I don't want my name dragged in mud anymore. he must come up with a proof or shut up for eva.

Seriously, Lil-dilly's really hurt. She deserves sincere apologies. She's very kind, compassionate, and sensitive person. You will have to know her before you can talk about her.
Fragi man, I understand you wanna know her better but lets find a better way of doing it, like intro, pms ... you know the drill.
On her topics, I hardly respond to anyone else's but I enjoy her topics and regularly visit 'em. I really admire her ability to post so many topics and keep forums alive.

not a lot. Only that he's innocent until proven guilty. Islam and law allow a suspect an opportunity to prove his innocence. In that pretext he might be coming up wid stories to shift blame on to something else. So let him say whateva he has to and let justice prevail.

Who do we consider non-jahil molvis ?
are there not Jahils in other professions? ....
aikalone: yah've a point. Its not that molvis who do get formal education (a real molvi education) don't have the mastery of their subject. Its the quacks and under-qualified people who are very narrow but extreme in their views (I mean within the provisions of Islam).

Badal & CM you are not very far apart in your opinions. Its only the positions we are taking so very strongly that make us bitter and unforthcoming.
This is a very interesting topic. We must build on it in a positve way.
Sall, your point - well taken. People say that to justify their own actions or whatever wrong happens around them. Instead one should acknowledge and recognizie wrong and immoral practices. That's first step toward correction and moral uplifting.
