(1. Read! In the Name of your Lord Who created.) (2. He has created man from a clot.) (3. Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous.) (4. Who has taught by the pen.) (5. He has taught man that which he knew not.) The Beginning of the Prophethood of Muhammad and the First of the Qur'an revealed
Imam Ahmad recorded that `A'ishah said: The first thing that began happening with the Messenger of Allah from the revelation was dreams that he would see in his sleep that would come true. He would not see any dream except that it would come true just like the (clearness of) the daybreak in the morning. Then seclusion became beloved to him. So, he used to go to the cave of Hira' and devote himself to worship there for a number of nights, and he would bring provisions for that. Then he would return to Khadijah and replenish his provisions for a similar number of nights. This continued until the revelation suddenly came to him while he was in the cave of Hira'. The angel came to him while he was in the cave and said, "Read!'' The Messen- ger of Allah said,
«ÝóÞõáúÊõ: ãóÇ ÃóäóÇ ÈöÞóÇÑöìÁ»
(I replied: "I am not one who reads.) Then he said, "So he (the angel) seized me and pressed me until I could no longer bear it. Then he released me and said: `Read!' So I replied: `I am not one who reads.' So, he pressed me a second time until I could no longer bear it. Then he released me and said:
[ÇÞúÑóÃú ÈöÇÓúãö ÑóÈøößó ÇáøóÐöì ÎóáóÞó ]
(Read in the Name of your Lord who has created.) until he reached the Ayah,
[ãóÇ áóãú íóÚúáóãú]
(That which he knew not. )'' So he returned with them (those Ayat) and with his heart trembling until he came (home) to Khadijah, and he said,
«Òóãøöáõæäöí Òóãøöáõæäöí»
(Wrap me up, wrap me up!) So they wrapped him up until his fear went away. After that he told Khadijah everything that had happened (and said),
«ÞóÏú ÎóÔöíÊõ Úóáóì äóÝúÓöí»
(I fear that something may happen to me.) Khadijah replied, "Never! By Allah, Allah will never disgrace you. You keep good relations with your relatives, you speak the truth, you help the poor and the destitute, you serve your guests generously, and you help the deserving, calamity afflicted people.'' Khadijah then accompanied him to her cousin Waraqah bin Nawfal bin Asad bin `Abdul-`Uzza bin Qusay, who, during the period of ignorance became a Christian and used to scribe the Scriptures in Arabic. He would write from the Injil in Hebrew as much as Allah willed for him to write. He was an old man and had lost his eyesight. Khadijah said to him, "O my cousin! Listen to the story of your nephew.'' Waraqah asked, "O my nephew! What have you seen'' Allah's Messenger described what he saw. Waraqah said, "This is An-Namus whom Allah had sent to Musa. I wish I was young and could live until the time when your people would drive you out.'' Allah's Messenger asked,
«Ãóæó ãõÎúÑöÌöíøó åõãú¿»
(Will they drive me out) Waraqah replied in the affirmative and said, "Anyone who came with something similar to what you have brought, was treated with hostility and enmity; and if I should remain alive till that day then I would firmly support you.'' But Waraqah did not remain. He died and the revelation paused until Allah's Messenger became sad according to what we were told. Due to this grief he set out a number of times with the intent of throwing himself from the mountain tops. However, every time he would reach the peak of a mountain to throw himself from it, Jibril would appear to him and say, "O Muhammad! You are truly the Messenger of Allah!'' Therefore, his worry would be eased, his soul would be settled and he would return (down from the mountain). Then, when the revelation did not come again for a long time, he set out as he had done before. So when he reached the peak of the mountain, Jibril appeared to him again and said to him the same as he had said before.'' This Hadith has been recorded in the Two Sahihs by way of Az-Zuhri. We have already discussed this Hadith's chain of narration, its text and its meanings at length in the beginning of our explanation of Sahih Al-Bukhari. Therefore, whoever would like to read it, it is researched there, and all praise and blessings are due to Allah. So the first thing that was revealed of the Qur'an were these noble and blessed Ayat. They are the first mercy that Allah bestowed upon His servants and the first bounty that Allah favored them with. The Honor and Nobility of Man is in His Knowledge
These Ayat inform of the beginning of man's creation from a dangling clot, and that out of Allah's generosity He taught man that which he did not know. Thus, Allah exalted him and honored him by giving him knowledge, and it is the dignity that the Father of Humanity, Adam, was distinguished with over the angels. Knowledge sometimes is in the mind, sometimes on the tongue, and sometimes in writing with the fingers. Thus, it may be intellectual, spoken and written. And while the last (written) necessitates the first two (intellectual and spoken), the reverse is not true. For this reason Allah says,
(Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous. Who has taught by the pen. He has taught man that which he knew not.) There is a narration that states, "Record knowledge by writing.'' There is also a saying which states, "Whoever acts according to what he knows, Allah will make him inherit knowledge that he did not know.''
(6. Nay! Verily, man does transgress.) (7. Because he considers himself self-sufficient.) (8. Surely, unto your Lord is the return.) (9. Have you seen him who prevents) (10. A servant when he prays) (11. Have you seen if he is on the guidance) (12. Or enjoins Taqwa) (13. Have you seen if he denies and turns away) (14. Knows he not that Allah sees) (15. Nay! If he ceases not, We will scorch his forehead --) (16. A lying, sinful forehead!) (17. Then let him call upon his council.) (18. We will call out the guards of Hell!) (19. Nay! Do not obey him. Fall prostrate and draw near (to Allah)!)
The Threat against Man's Transgression for the sake of Wealth
Allah informs that man is very pleased, most evil, scornful and transgressive when he considers himself self-sufficient and having an abundance of wealth. Then Allah threatens, warns and admonishes him in His saying,
[Åöäøó Åöáóì ÑóÈøößó ÇáÑøõÌúÚóì ]
(Surely, unto your Lord is the return.) meaning, `unto Allah is the final destination and return, and He will hold you accountable for your wealth, as to where you obtained it from and how did you spend it.'
Scolding of Abu Jahl and the Threat of seizing Him
(Have you seen him who prevents. A servant when he prays) This was revealed about Abu Jahl, may Allah curse him. He threatened the Prophet for performing Salah at the Ka`bah. Thus, Allah firstly admonished him with that which was better by saying,
[ÃóÑóÁóíúÊó Åöä ßóÇäó Úóáóì ÇáúåõÏóì ]
(Have you seen if he is on the guidance.) meaning, `do you think this man whom you are preventing is upon the straight path in his action, or
[Ãóæú ÃóãóÑó ÈöÇáÊøóÞúæóì ]
(Or enjoins Taqwa) in his statements Yet, you rebuke him and threaten him due to his prayer.' Thus, Allah says,
[Ãóáóãú íóÚúáóã ÈöÃóäøó Çááøóåó íóÑóì ]
(Knows he not that Allah sees) meaning, doesn't this person who is preventing this man who is following correct guidance know that Allah sees him and hears his words, and He will compensate him in full for what he has done Then Allah says by way of warning and threatening,
[ßóáÇøó áóÆöä áøóãú íóäÊóåö]
(Nay! If he ceases not,) meaning, if he does not recant from his discord and obstinacy,
[áóäóÓúÝóÚÇð ÈöÇáäøóÇÕöíóÉö]
(We will scorch his forehead.) meaning, `indeed We will make it extremely black on the Day of Judgement.' Then He says,
[äóÇÕöíóÉò ßóÜÐöÈóÉò ÎóÇØöÆóÉò ]
(A lying, sinful forehead!) meaning, the forehead of Abu Jahl is lying in its statements and sinful in its actions.
[ÝóáúíóÏúÚõ äóÇÏöíóåõ ]
(Then let him call upon his council.) meaning, his people and his tribe. In other words, let him call them in order to seek help from them.
[ÓóäóÏúÚõ ÇáÒøóÈóÇäöíóÉó ]
(We will call out the guards of Hell!) `And they are the angels of torment. This is so that he may know who will win -- Our group or his group' Al-Bukhari recorded that Ibn `Abbas said, "Abu Jahl said, `If I see Muhammad praying at the Ka`bah, I will stomp on his neck.' So this reached the Prophet , who said,
«áóÆöäú ÝóÚóáó áóÃóÎóÐóÊúåõ ÇáúãóáóÇÆößóÉ»
(If he does, he will be seized by the angels.)'' This Hadith was also recorded by At-Tirmidhi and An-Nasa'i in their Books of Tafsir. Likewise, it has been recorded by Ibn Jarir. Ahmad, At-Tirmidhi, An-Nasa'i and Ibn Jarir, all recorded it from Ibn `Abbas with the following wording: "The Messenger of Allah was praying at the Maqam (prayer station of Ibrahim) when Abu Jahl bin Hisham passed by him and said, `O Muhammad! Haven't I prevented you from this' He threatened the Prophet and thus, the Messenger of Allah became angry with him and reprimanded him. Then he said, `O Muhammad! What can you threaten me with By Allah, I have the most kinsmen of this valley with me in the large.' Then Allah revealed,
[ÝóáúíóÏúÚõ äóÇÏöíóåõ - ÓóäóÏúÚõ ÇáÒøóÈóÇäöíóÉó ]
(Then let him call upon his council. We will call out the guards of Hell!)'' Ibn `Abbas then said, "If he had called his people, the angels of torment would have seized him at that very instant.'' At-Tirmidhi said, "Hasan Sahih.'' Ibn Jarir recorded from Abu Hurayrah that Abu Jahl said, "Does Muhammad cover his face with dust (i.e., from prostration) while he is among you all'' They (the people) replied, "Yes.'' Then he said, "By Al-Lat and Al-`Uzza, if I see him praying like this, I will stomp on his neck, and I will certainly put his face in the dust.'' So the Messenger of Allah came and he began praying, which made it possible for Abu Jahl to stomp on his neck. Then the people became surprised at him (Abu Jahl) because he began retreating on his heels and covering himself with his hands. Then it was said to him, "What's the matter with you'' He replied, "Verily, between me and him is a ditch of fire, monsters and wings.'' Then the Messenger of Allah said,
(If he had come near me, the angels would have snatched him limb by limb.) The narrator added; "Allah revealed an Ayah, but I do not know whether it is concerning the Hadith of Abu Hurayrah or not:
[ßóáÇøó Åöäøó ÇáÅöäÓóÜäó áóíóØúÛóì ]
(Nay! Verily, man does transgress.) to the end of the Surah.'' Imam Ahmad bin Hanbal, Muslim, An-Nasa'i and Ibn Abi Hatim all recorded this Hadith.
Amusement for the Prophet
Then Allah says,
[ßóáÇøó áÇó ÊõØöÚúåõ]
(Nay! Do not obey him.) meaning, `O Muhammad! Do not obey him in what he is forbidding from such as steadfastness in worship and performing worship in abundance. Pray wherever you wish and do not worry about him. For indeed Allah will protect you and help you, and He will defend you against the people.'
[æóÇÓúÌõÏú æóÇÞúÊóÑöÈ]
(Fall prostrate and draw near (to Allah)!) This is just like what has been confirmed in the Sahih of Muslim on the authority of Abu Salih who reported from Abu Hurayrah that the Messenger of Allah said,
(The closest that a servant can be to his Lord is when he is in prostration. Therefore, make abundant supplications (i.e., while prostrating).)'' It has also been mentioned previously that the Messenger of Allah used to prostrate when he recited
[ÅöÐóÇ ÇáÓøóãóÂÁõ ÇäÔóÞøóÊú ]
(When the heaven is split asunder.) (84:1) and
[ÇÞúÑóÃú ÈöÇÓúãö ÑóÈøößó ÇáøóÐöì ÎóáóÞó ]
(Read! In the Name of your Lord Who has created.) (96:1) This is the end of the Tafsir of Surah Iqra' (Surat Al-`Alaq). Unto Allah is due all praise and thanks, and He is the Giver of success and protection against error.

Every believers who dies, Janazah pryers are fard on Muslims. At least few should offer it. Islam does not discriminate against any disability. Those who are men but impersonify as women, their prayers should still be offered for how they were born (in my opinion - I'll consult a scholar for validation or otherwise)
Azan and iqamah is made in every muslim child's ears at birth, regardlesss of sex. Janazah prayers becomes wajib when a muslim dies. We may not have attended prayers on a neutered person, but it doesn't mean it doesn't happen.
Islam is a religion of modesty. Those who are born with sexual disability, their weakness only becomes known to others when they reveal it. Those who make public of their disability and act like a person with changed sex or neutered is not an islamic practice. Though seeking cure is another story. Righteousness remains nones monopoly, its a choice of those who prefer it.
We tend to forget that Allah gives people bounties to test them about how they use them, while deprive others to test their patience for it. Allah also gives bouties to people whom He knows in His knowledge will make contributions with it in a positive way, and deprieves others knowing they may cause greater harm with it then without it.
Sall, your info's correct. Disability doesn't mean complete loss of opportunities. Its a matter of choice for such people, whether they want to take up a noble profession and righteous works; and lead a descent life or otherwise.

Strong and powerful nation's culture dominates the rest. People think its their life style that makes 'em powerful. To a little extent, yes, but largely its their hard work that makes em powers. Media's just a tool / mouthpiece. It harps for what it gets paid for.
BTW, in paki culture, is there anything original left in it? Mostly, its borrowed, influenced with some foreign element. They just do it bcuz someone else's doing it.

He appeals to middle and lower middle orders of the society...educated but frustrated, learned but brainless, emotional but senseless people stand to support him. I hv heard his speaches live, emotional people need very little sensible material to get high on. I believe, when ever he opens his mouth, he sticks his foot right in it. Hes worst of all politicians bcuz his politics sucked more blood than anyone else to get him to fame. So what he reps middle class. What's his achievement for the people he represented. Sall ur rite, when this fever comes down, it will bring alot down with it. I really don't know what he stands for - either he fooled people before he took a political u-turn or after, may be both, before and after. Its the power game!!!

Some are naturally disabled ... others inflicted harm upon, yet some act like one.
One can't help it when someone makes itself a laughing stock for others.
FYI: Prophet Yahya was born with reproductive disability. He was born to noble prophet and was a noble prophet himself as Quran praises him. Disability is not something to laugh at or mock about because it is by the will of Allah. Our culture dosen't offer much tolerance let alone respect for people with disabilties. What is there in our culture that conforms with our religion, I wonder many times!

Freedom's from captivity of anykind & independence's not depending on anyone for meeting ones needs. These really ain't synonyms. Both are relative terms though. Nobody's totaly independent or free. People with power and authority always try to take away people's freedom or render 'em dependent with different tricks. This battle will continue until end.

I don't know what you mean by that. With my experience, sooner you do it, better is is for you.
On another note: Marriages don't last very long these days bcuz its foundations are week. Drive thru marriages are like fast food, you enjoy it for sometime but its unhealthy for you in longer run. That's why so many marriages break-up today.

Multifaceted practicality of it requires good understanding. Two kinds of shirk - Saghirah & kabirah - should be understood in proper context. Shik kabirah is associating partners in worship of Allah - worshipping others than Allah and expect other dieties to respond to their call (Mushriks of Mecca had this very problem). Other aspect of it is to consider someone, beside Allah, as lord, cherrisher, nourisher... Committing this kind of shirk thows one out of the fold of Islam. Shirk saghirah - minor shirk (not to be taken lightly) can prevent one from becoming a believer. This is the kind of shirk when one accepts the notion of oneness of Allah but acts contarary to it. Example of it like one who thinks his job and boss hold the provisions for him, for him to loose his job is like end of the world. Another example is of one who worships (or at least accept the oneness of Allah) but his desires takeover his submission to his Lord.
Prophet SAW, in a long narration, clearified that a person cannot be a believer unless Allah and His messenger are more beloved to him than anything (even himself). Meaning, two important thing - there are levels of Eman, and submission of acts, opinions, desires, even thought is true eman. Tiniest shortness of highest level of Eman indicative of some traces of shirk (saghirah). This is my humble understanding. Allah knows the best.

Sall, yur quest's very deep. Scholars worte volumes on this subject. I will relate one eg from Quran for clearification. In surat Younus, Allah SWT relates story of a group which travels in a ship enjoying the journey as the cool sea breeze pleases them, suddenly tides turn high and wind rages upon them while they are caught in the middle of the ocean. At this point they ask Allah while making their religion (deen) pure, beg for safety. Allah answers their call and pulls their ship to the coast. People who were pledging to offer thanks when they were in trouble, now forgot their pledges and were consumed by affairs of life....
...making religion pure meant that when they know there's no one to save them against this clamity but Allah, their hopes were only pinned upon Him. this is the pure Eman. Bringing anyone to share this uniqueness of Allah is shirk.

heart's not satisfied with material things. it needs feeding! Ironically, we desire more for self for satisfaction; heart feels better with giving to others from what one owns. Peace of heart and mind is in the rememberance of Allah. Spending in His cause is rememberance. Try that recipie, if you like!

Its like a ocean here, a fish drifts in and a fish drifts out. Some make it home for a little longer than others. Frady, I respect your decision and commend you for your contributions. I really enjoyed discussing with you on complicated issues. Thanks for your comments - exaggerations Knowledge is their in the book, we only need to read it. My advice to you wld be that so long as you can contribute or benefit from others, stay in that place. I believe there are several social issues that you, Sall and I (have common interests) can talk about (no offense to anyone else). Others can also contribute by bringing up their ideas. So, if you'ld stay, we can benefit from each other.

well, I hope everybody whole heartedly believes in that. We may run away from punishments in this life, but in Allah's court, there's no escape and if convicted of crim, Allah's punishment is far more severe than that of this life.

Sall, I thk you thnk alot and try to understand things by putting 2 & 2 to get 4 its great
Islam as whole stands on 6 pillars of faith, and central to this is the oneness (uniqueness) of Allah. Islam was the religion of all prophets from Adam to Mohammed (pbut), including Musa and Esa (pbut). Your point of niyyat is fairly accurate. Niyyah is central to the Ikhlas of tawheed.
Arrival of Prophet Esa was the extension of the religion of prophet Moses and abrogation of Torah (only bcuz it was amulgamated). In Quran Allah SWT clearly states that the religion to Allah is Islam, and in another place it reads, no religion other than islam will be acceptable to Allah on the Last Day.
Now the question of being forgiven, Allah says in the Quran to ask them of an evidence (a promise or word of Allah) that C & J are forgiven and will inherit pardise. Allah even challenges them "to wish for death if they are truly believe pardon and paradise for them! surley they never will till the end bcause of what they have sent forth and Allah's aware of wrong doers." C&Js who died on their true faith b4 the coming of prophet Mohammed (pbuh) they are like Muslims who dies on the true faith and will have save destiny.
For Muslims to think they are forgiven -- a deception of shaitan -- for Allah's beloved prophet (pbuh) used to seek forgiveness from Him. Allah says in the Quran, "Do people think that they will be left alone because they say: "We believe,'' and will not be tested."
As far as man-o-salwa in jews' blood, Allah also sent food from heavens for christians - companioions of Esa (pbuh). Prophet Mohammed had many miracles when several of his comapnions ate or drank from one small container blessed by Allah SWT. But point to note is that jews were made apes and pigs too even though they had eaten food from heavens. Abu Jahal also drank from same Zam-Zam as did Prophet Ismael and prophet Mohammed. I am sure you got the idea.

my friends we are beating around the bush. I don't intend to lecture but I saw the main ingredient missing in the analysis you guys and gals have posted above. Though your assessment is quite accurate but I would like to draw your attention to something of paramount importance.
My dear friends, we are disturbed by the symptoms and trying to find a cure for that. As symptoms are indicators of disease hidden inside. I'm sur u'll agree wid me on that when a body is inflicted with cancer, cold, fever, & cough, doc will focus on cancer to save the life first and will ignore other minor diseases.
customs and culture are indicators, reflectors, symptoms, & mirrors of BELIEVES. You can't stop the growth of a tree by clipping its brances. They will grow back with more vigor. You got to go to the root of it. Want to change a society, change the set of believes in one individual.
Prophet (pbuh) spent 13 years in Mekkah, only working on the set of believes ignoring all other societal issues. Who wants to follow Quran when they don't believe in what it says. People say they believe but negate it with thier action. So work on own Iman first, strengthen it first with worship and ibadah - it helps reinforce realationship with the creator.

That's why I said in given circumstances. Even when you try to correct somebody's mistake in a time when that person is not in senses, you might cause more harm than benefit if you correct him/her. in that situation it is better not to do anything.
Now generally speaking, Islam encourages (rather orders) good works matched with faithful words, like in verses, "illal lazina amanu wa aamelus salehat..." meaning: People who believe and do righteous deeds.... Mere belief is not enough like mere good intention (niyyah) is not enough, it must be matched with good works. A momin, whose heart throbes, how could his body rest especially after seeing sufferings of humans and non-humans.

Sall, your question and your commets surprised me.
Your comment about wasilah - my God, a concept of jahiliya being questioned for validity
Allah SWT says: And when My servants ask you, I am indeed near to them. I respond to the invocations of the supplicant when he calls on Me So let them obey Me and believe in Me, so that they may be led aright. Baqrah: 186
Secondly, Asking Allah SWT with wasilah (human etc) puts Allah's integrity in doubt.
i read my posts and still didnt get wot u want to say if u r talking abt wot i said concerning a person requesting to Hazrat Fatima,, it s not my opinion,, that s wot i read somewhere if i had a scanner id have scanned and post it
Its not about that, its about the concept of wasila by it self. I was refering to your statement when you stated it may be ok to ask Allah thru wasila. The only one permissible wassila is to ask Allah by his beautiful names. Additionally, those who have passed away, they can't ask for themselves how cld they ask for other. Doors of Dua are only open in this life. Dua of living person reaches Allah and then conveyed to the deceased.

my parents r not bad ppl sd but they r like the rest of world
and i really think that im not made for this world even my parents think so hmmm,, forget it,, im mad
I am sorry but I disagree w/ ur statements. It wasn't a mistake or fluke by which you came to this world. Allah SWT didnot create anything without a purpose in this world. I never said ur parents are bad ppl and if they are like the rest of the world, it is nothing strange. Either you hv not seen parents who are really wiered, strange, or even worse, or that you think you are someone special. This order of not even saying 'uff' to parents applies to even abusive and wiered parents as well.
you said, you are mad Faradiya has been saying it for sometime but, you have been denying. I am glad you finally admitted to it

Badshah, this means you don't want to leave a habit, you just did it for a month.
Ramadhan is like an incubator where people go in for the treatment of various imanic diseases so that when they come out of it they are free of those deseases. What you are saying is like a drug adict goes to a rehab program with the intention of taking a break for a little while.

yarrr,,, as long as i know, Quran and sunnah dont forbid MAKE UP in ramadan,,, and specialy lipstick
it s not only an opinion,, it seems obvious to me,, coz roza kuch khane peene se (or else) toot jata hai,, lipstick is not foood ?¿ but if wearing make up (or lipstick) is wrong, then it shd b for whole year,, y only in ramadan ????
makeup is not prohibited but is restricted for use indoors. it is not permissible for women to go out beautifying themselves in ways attracting men (other than permitted). Now when use of lipsticks an other items of make are ever so commonly used that it is no-longer taken as an item of beautification. So much so that not having makeup on makes some people look sick and tired bcuz they forgot their own original faces.
Sall, It surprises me that women don't realize that when they have lipstick on, they rub it in their mouth and is actually consumed. I agree that it is not an edible item but intake of anything breaks fast, except what is inadvertant. Allah knows best!
